  1. High-temperature hardness

Cutting tools are exposed to high temperatures during machining, so they must maintain their hardness at high temperatures. Materials with low high-temperature hardness will wear more easily during machining, shortening the tool life.

   2. Toughness

Cutting tools are exposed to shock and vibration during machining, so they must be tough. Materials with low toughness can be damaged by shock and vibration

   3. Wear resistance

Cutting tools are worn by friction with the workpiece during machining, so they must have high wear resistance. Materials with low wear resistance will wear quickly during machining, shortening the tool life.

   4. Thermal stability

Cutting tools are exposed to high temperatures during machining, so they must have high thermal stability. Materials with low thermal stability can deform or break at high temperatures

   5. Economics

Cutting tools are consumable during machining, so they must be economical. Materials with low economics can increase the cost of tools, raising production costs.

Cutting tool materials must be selected appropriately for the type of workpiece being machined, the machining conditions, and the shape of the tool.
